South Mountain Park

Alta: 4.5 miles one-way; moderate to difficult (toughest trail in South Mountain).  This trail is my favorite and I use it for my training.  The trails are narrow is several sections, and there is a little bit of scrambling here and there.  You must be in shape to participate on this hike.

Alta to National to Bajada Trail: 9.5 miles; tough trail and count on @ least four hours to tackle this beast of a loop.  You must be in shape to participate on this hike.

Ranger: 3.2 miles total; 898 Elevation Gain; fantastic views from our resting point.

Holbert to Dobbins Lookout: 4 miles total; tough (steep climb, steep descent)

Hidden Valley Loop: 3.5 Miles total; moderate skills; we will visit the "Fatman's Pass" and the "Natural Tunnel".

Javelina/Ridgeline/Beverly Canyon Loop: 3.9 miles total; easy to medium (we do have a steep climb to the Ridgeline).  The views from the Ridgeline are awesome.  This hike is also recommended as a "Moonlight Hike".

Kiwanis/Ranger Trail Loop: 4.2 miles total; Medium effort; very steep 700' climb in the first mile to the ridgeline.  The views from the ridgeline are stellar.

National Trail (goes from one end of the park to the other): 15.5 miles one-way; tough (due to distance); over 3,000 accumulative feet gained.  You must be in shape to participate on this particular hike.

Mormon Trail to Mormon Loop:

Mormon Trail to Mormon Loop to National:

Classic Trail:

Camelback Mountain:

Cholla Trail: 3.6 miles total; short & steep; this is one of the best known hikes in Phoenix.  It's a short hike, but very steep, you should be in shape to participate on this hike.  There have been several instances where hikers had to be assisted down because they were not prepared for the steepness of this trail.

Echo Canyon Trail: 2.4 miles total; same as above.

McDowell Mountains:

Sunrise Trail:

Humphrey's Peak:

Humphrey's Peak is the highest peak in AZ, standing at 12,633 feet.  This is a very tough trail, with 3,333 feet in elevation gain.  This is a high-altitude hike and you must be in excellent shape to participate on this trip.  Limit:  Up to 3 Hikers.  This trip can be designed for a one-day event, or a stayover.  Transportation is available.

Know your limitations!!!!

When choosing a hike, please read the description very carefully.  We offfer beginner hikes, as well as more advanced hike.  If you have never hiked, we would never recommend a hard hike, such as the "Alta & National" trails.

When scheduling a hike, you will be asked a series of questions, including your fitness level, have you ever hiked before, and if so what types of hiking have you done.  You will also be asked if you, or anyone in your party, has any type of medical issues.
